Keswick Lecture: Your life is not about you

How to flourish in a culture of self-invention

We live in a culture obsessed with self- definition, self-fulfillment, and the pursuit of self-esteem. In this lecture, through the history of ideas and the rise of modern psychology, we trace the roots of western culture’s ‘inward turn’. We expose the harms, as well as the potential benefits, of today’s absorption with the self. And finally, we explore how the Christian Gospel points to a better story of human flourishing.

We will consider issues of theology, identity, unity, diversity, and mission.
