Meet the artists in residence, Gardner & Gardner and hear the story of their ‘Peacemakers’ project.
Gardner & Gardner are bringing the ‘Peacemakers’ loom to KU. Throughout the week the installation will offer a quiet, hospitable space, drawing participants into the repetitive, contemplative, simple action of knitting on the loom, where attentive listening and prayer will be offered by the artists. Everyone is welcome to join them at the loom in Packing Hall (PH) 2 during the week.
Gardner & Gardner are a husband-and-wife visual artist duo, based in Glasgow. Coming from different disciplines – Heidi from History of Art, Peter from Theology – they have built up over two decades a contemporary art practice in temporary, site-specific installations and interventions, often set within the context of worshipping communities and their buildings, introducing a conceptual element into the sacred architecture. They combine their art practice with Peter’s role as Church of Scotland Minister to the visual arts communities of Glasgow. (Photo credit Martin Shields)
