In 1983, Alistair became the senior pastor at Parkside Church near Cleveland, Ohio, where he continues to lead the congregation and teach God’s Word Sunday by Sunday.

This letter records Paul’s last words. He is in prison, chained to a Roman soldier, dictating this letter to Luke for his young pastor friend, Timothy, Paul’s ‘true son in the faith’ (1 Timothy 1:2). Timothy had been his travelling companion on missionary journeys, had visited churches on his behalf, was with him during his first stint in prison and was now the pastor of the church in Ephesus. Paul wrote to Timothy encouraging him to visit, but, more importantly, pleading with him to stay faithful, keeping Christ and the gospel central to his life and ministry.
