Seminar: School of Biblical Studies – Grasping God’s Masterpiece
Learning to rejoice in the Old Testament (Grateful for its realism)
When more reports of atrocities fill our TV screens, it can be overwhelming. It is painful to watch. Likewise, it is hard to be grateful for Old Testament accounts of horror and wickedness. Yet the Bible is not a Disney version of life. It is not afraid to describe evil in all its dimensions. How do stories such as Judges 19 build us up rather than just cause us sorrow?
Seminar: Grateful when we don’t feel grateful
Cultivating gratitude as a church
God’s people have a rich history of grumbling. We will explore why this is so deadly to a church family and how intentionally developing a heart of gratitude is the greatest way to protect a church from that danger.
Seminar: Grateful Christ has Commissioned Me
Natural Evangelism – The Practice of Praying, Caring and Sharing (The Practice of Caring for Evangelism)
The act of sharing the gospel of Jesus Christ is called evangelism.
Evangelism is the cry of Jesus as He weeps over lost people.
Evangelism is the whole work of the whole church for the whole age.
The Gospel is not something we come to church to hear, it is something we go from church to tell.
In our four sessions together we will learn how to be more intentional in personal evangelism and how praying, caring and sharing our faith can help others on their journey of faith to Christ.
Be assured it will be a lot of fun! Lots of therapeutic laughter!
This session will also be available for catch-up via the live streaming link below.
Seminar: Knowing The Times: Christian Living in a Post-Christian Context
The Mission We Have
Having understood our current context, we can consider our mission as the church. We will turn to the teaching of Jesus and the apostles, and to the exilic experience of the Old Testament people of God, for help. The challenges we face are neither new or surprising, and we need a confident faith in the sovereignty and promises of God to overcome our disorientation and discouragement.

Morning Bible Reading
Deceitful Intention and Divine Intervention (Genesis 27:1-29)
In Genesis 27 we see the web of deceit cast by Isaac and Esau, and Rebekah and Jacob. Their lies and manipulation bring tragic consequences. However we also see God bringing remarkable good out of human evil.

KU Lunchtime Concert: Stuart Henderson, Carol Henderson and Yvonne Lyon
One of a series of lunchtime concerts where, over the week, you can enjoy a range of music, poetry and comedy performances from KU’s artists.
Stewart Henderson is a poet, song lyricist and broadcaster. His poetry appears in numerous anthologies. Esteemed, Sunday Times, and Daily Telegraph radio critic, Gillian Reynolds says, ‘he understands the packed power of words, the importance of their use and measure’. He returns to KU with his latest anthology, ‘Especially, now…’. ‘Trenchant and tender…words to whistle in the tumult’.
Carol Henderson is a writer and apprentice iconographer, whose BBC Networked radio appearances include drama readings on Radio 4 documentaries. Her latest icon was exhibited at ‘Metamorphosis’ at The London Jesuit Centre, officially viewed by HRH The Prince of Wales. Her largest work, ‘The Holy Trinity’, has recently been purchased for The Cathedral of the Most Holy Trinity, Bermuda.
Singer/songwriter Yvonne Lyon continues to deliver engaging material with fresh imagination. She returns to Keswick to perform a memorable collection of songs from her new album, Growing Wild and from Vesper Sky, featuring Stewart and Carol Henderson. Yvonne will also be launching Trace The Line, a collaborative album centred on the Sermon on the Mount.

KU: Afternoon workshop
Meet the artists in residence, Gardner & Gardner and hear the story of their ‘Peacemakers’ project.
Gardner & Gardner are bringing the ‘Peacemakers’ loom to KU. Throughout the week the installation will offer a quiet, hospitable space, drawing participants into the repetitive, contemplative, simple action of knitting on the loom, where attentive listening and prayer will be offered by the artists. Everyone is welcome to join them at the loom in Packing Hall (PH) 2 during the week.
Gardner & Gardner are a husband-and-wife visual artist duo, based in Glasgow. Coming from different disciplines – Heidi from History of Art, Peter from Theology – they have built up over two decades a contemporary art practice in temporary, site-specific installations and interventions, often set within the context of worshipping communities and their buildings, introducing a conceptual element into the sacred architecture. They combine their art practice with Peter’s role as Church of Scotland Minister to the visual arts communities of Glasgow. (Photo credit Martin Shields)

Evening Celebration
Grateful and prayerful (Philippians 4:4-7)
We are an anxious generation; Paul in Philippians shows us how the antidote to anxiety is to ‘take it to the Lord in prayer’. Thanksgiving is a large part of that.

KU: Windows on the Word
A conversation about art, faith and the Bible. Art of the Bible and the Bible as art. Join the KU team as we look at God’s Word through the lens of the creative arts. Taking a different Bible passage each evening, we’ll see how God’s Word has inspired artists and continues to speak through music, poetry and art. Expect live music, art, spoken word, interviews and Bible teaching from artists with everyone invited to collaborate in a new art work each evening.
Lament: Psalm 13
‘How long, Oh Lord? Will you forget me forever?’ The psalmist’s lament cries through the centuries. Through music, art and words, the KU team explore the Biblical theme of lament then and now. With Alastair Gordon and Ruth Naomi Floyd in conversation with artists Sarah White and Kaori Homma.
