Seminar: Grateful for God’s Word – A Bible Overview

Dwelling with God: David, the Temple and the Land

These seminars will trace the storyline of the Bible, with a focus on all we have to be grateful for. My prayer is that in doing so we will:

– grow in knowledge who God is and who we are in relation to him

– understand any part of the Bible by relating it to this overarching storyline

– see how every part of scripture points to Jesus, and have our hearts lifted to adore him.

Sometimes Jesus makes great demands of his followers and puts them in uncomfortable situations that help them grow in their life of discipleship. This seminar will look at a few New Testament narratives that shed a light on why it matters that we learn to live together as God’s holy people and the ways our lives can lead others to Jesus.

Challenging financial circumstances can suffocate our gratitude and make us resentful. Economic prosperity can choke our hearts and make us resentful rather than grateful. How do we avoid both dangers? Paul tells us that he had ‘learned the secret of being content in any and every situation, whether well fed or hungry, whether living in plenty or in want’. What was his secret. How can we share it?

Grateful for the Gospel (Ephesians 3:1-13)

Why should we be committed to the Gospel? Why does Paul call the Gospel a ‘mystery’? What are we to do with this mystery? How can we share the Gospel effectively, and live it out against the backdrop of cosmic warfare? Ephesians 3 shows us how to be ‘Gospel driven’, and what’s at stake as we live for Christ every day.

Fisherman’s Tail

For the fisherman who sail on her, the sea of Galilee provides plenty of fish and plenty of stories. Local fishermen Simon, Andrew, James & John have got a tale to beat them all, it involves a fishing competition, wherein a strange man appears and blow everyone’s efforts out of the water. With a host of hearty songs and interactive story-telling, Fisherman’s Tail is a show not to be missed.

Fisherman’s Tail is an adapted version of the original actor-musician musical with the music played live on stage. This toured very successfully throughout 2017-2018 and received glowing reviews at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival in 2018 and 2019.

We live in an uncertain world, where we can’t trust our rulers to save us, where life ends in death. But this is also where a ‘blessed’ life can be lived, if it is grounded on the secure actions of God, who creates all things and ‘keeps faith forever’.
