Today I will be expounding Psalm 3. Under our theme of Hope this will point us to the great hope that comes from watching Jesus, the founder and perfecter of our faith (Hebrews 12:2) as he experiences pressure and salvation. As we hope in Jesus, we learn to trust for salvation in him.
Grief is an experience that affects us all. For some, our grief overwhelms us and we feel hopelessly alone. For others, we suppress our grief with a stoic or overly positive disposition. But, what does it look like to genuinely ‘grieve in hope’ as the Bible encourages us to do? What difference does Jesus make to our experience of grief? How might we better comfort those who are grieving? In this seminar, we will explore these questions in light of the current pandemic, and see how Jesus not only uniquely comforts us, but will ultimately turn our grief into joy.

Our team will be focusing on Romans 8.11, looking at how our hope lives because Jesus lives. This is wonderful comfort to us that no matter how hopeless we may feel our Christian hope doesn’t depend on our mood, or our emotions, or our circumstances. Our Christian hope is in the central irreversible empirical truth of the empty tomb of Jesus Christ.
